Quick question: I want to glue a chunk on aluminum foil to some foam board I have for a silver reflector. Question is - should i try to get it as flat as possible, or crinkled up?

I would assume flat but I recall reading somewhere that crinkled is better. So, anyone have an opinion or does it not even make a difference?

Do one side flat and the other crinkled and you have yourself 2 reflectors. They will reflect the light very differently. But you will have to be careful with the crinkled side when you carry it around. Eventually it will flatten itself out but it still will give a different light because it just won't get as flat as the other side.

The flat will reflect a harsher light but it can be useful in low light situations. The crinkled will scatter the reflected light.

Edit = You could also just try it out with a 8x10 piece of cardboard and a lamp.

It might be better if you use Aluminium foil instead :)
American vs British rant over
I honestly have no idea, but i would think it might split? Aluminium foil tends to tear easy...
