An Australian's take on American foods

that is too funny! I love reading what others think of the US since I've never been out of the US

Augghh...am I getting in trouble again? I've lived in a small Texas town all my life & have rarely traveled out of the state much less the country. So seeing people from all over the world on here is very interesting & educational. I don't want to make things political...I just like seeing what life is like for others around the world.

Haha not at all, I just don't think that much of the literature outside the US border is particularly...nice

Ok I've lived here for 2 years now and have never heard of Mr Pibbs or Collard Greens. Or for that matter a Clark bar! Can anyone enlighten me as to what they are?

Seems to me it's a mix of stuff but I can't remember what.

 Mr Pibbs is a nastier version of Dr Pepper. I think they're both kind of icky, though.

Collard greens = soul food, bro; what's the matter with you that you've never had them??? Collards are a leafy green plant, grown in cool weather months in the southern states of the USA. The leaves can get huge! You stuff them into a large kettle, add a little water and hog fat, boil them down till they're limp, and slurp them up HOT with the pot likker....that's the juice left in the pot. Serve them up with black eyed peas and a piece of your mama's corn bread, and then you know you're living. Wash it all down with an RC Cola and have a moon pie to celebrate.

If you go easy on the hog fat, they're actually quite good for you, as are all green leafy vegetables. But it's probably not the same taste sensation.

The Clark bar...I think it's a repackaged Heath bar. There is chocolate involved. 'Nuff said. :hail:

It's all true; I swear it. ;)
