Annoying Words and Phrases

There are so MANY that annoy me, I hardly know where to start! :D

I haven't seen it lately, but for a while, there seem to be a lot of TPF newcomers who called themselves "armatures" instead of amateurs. :lmao:

Defiantly instead of definitely is another that seems to be on the rise.

"I could care less" when in actuality, they are trying to convey that they do NOT care at all. If you *could* care less, you must care at least a little now.

"Like" in the place of "said," "random," "gianormous," "staycation" and any mutilation of the name of a month (Februany, Rocktober.)

#anything when used outside of Twitter. I can barely tolerate the whole hashtag thing ON Twitter, but using it outside of Twitter is even more stupid. The worst is someone using #yourtopichere in SPEECH, like I just heard on a commercial.

Everyone makes grammar and spelling mistakes, so those should not count as "Annoying Words and Phrases".

Its annoying when there supposibly edumacated people doing it though.

Especially online, where their is almost defiantly a spell checker.

Google+ and Facebook have both incorporated hashtags now, so it's becoming universal...

Lol omg wtf

Although I did see a car tag a few years back with "omg wtf", thought that was pretty funny

Parkour. Lets be honest, it's people jumping on crap
Annoys the **** out of me. I'll take the kids (4 and 6 years old) to the playground, and these teens are jumping all over crap, not checking to make sure the landing site is clear first.

You have no idea how many times one of my kids have nearly gotten smashed by some dumbass kid, lol.

"I mean, seriously" or just 'seriously'. It has become my SIL favorite every other word!!!!!

hey, what's Sharon doing on here? I just posted a get well to her on another post!! :)
Nancy

With a nod to Joshua's recent post on FB, people who say "supposibly", instead of supposedly.

Another new one that's creeping in is people using the word barley, which is a grain crop frequently used in brewing, as opposed to the proper word, barely.

There in place of their is not good, and on Yahoo News, there seems to be a pretty large number of commenters who love to write about the need to "support are troops".
Haha - I posted that from my phone at work right after hearing three different people say "supposibly" inside of 10 minutes - then today I see this thread.

I learned that my coworkers are very suspicious, in that everything has to be qualified with 'supposedly', and also that they are morons.

I'll limit myself to things I that see here on a regular basis:

Apostrophes are NOT used for plurals!

Kardashian

Another word that I can't stand, along with everything that comes with it. They are popular for what? Ugh!
