the liftoff and the #4 photo were amazing.
For the first shot, are both the shadows are of the same bird?

All fine shots as per normal Kris. Certainly sharp shots in there !! Amazing details on the ...... Willet, beautiful looking bird with a ton of markings, excellent in flight shot. Black cap, love the background and another fine sharp shot.

Swallows are just gorgeous, stunning shots and a great BIF Kris. Two shadows one bird ;) excellent. Also like this one a lot ....

Beautiful and a bit of behaviour thrown in. love that shot as well. Just curious when you go for the Swallow BIF's, how close are you Kris and I see that one is at 300mm. The one on flickr is at 500mm.

All the best Kris, excellent shooting.

Danny.

I love that when Kris posts a "still trying" shot, I would post that swallow as "OMG I DID IT!!!!"

LOL. Love your chickadee.

Thank you everyone! Perseverance is my middle name :)

I'm shooting with my back up lens which is a Sigma 150-500 OS. I checked subject distance in Exif and it ranged from 18-27 feet (6-9 meters) . I was trying to focus on them and move my focus a touch to where I thought they would be taking off. I was trying to leave enough room in the frame, but most of the time it didn't work as expected. I should have my big lens back tomorrow.

Thanks Kris and that answers all the questions. So the D7100 has the Toshiba sensor by the looks at 24 meg. Similar to the Sony I guess at the end of the day. I would be shooting at around 12-15 meters Kris, so a little more. It means I need to crop more, but gives plenty of room for getting the little buggas in the frame. I'll do a post later on with the Swallows and a bit more of an explanation and a few un-cropped versions and that will let you judge your distance of what I try and get. It does mean smaller images of course with the cropping, but could be interesting to see the difference.

All the best Kris and thanks for that info, love your shots and the way you work.

Danny.
