Here we go,

Well I thought I would get some help on this. My sister-in-law is getting married in Sept (9/10/11-how original), though I really doubt it will make it till then. I personally could care less about helping them out, but it definitely would not be for them. It would be for my wife, and her parents because they are all the ones that will probably be screwed over with the bill.

Situation::banghead:
1. He was a douche for 3 yrs, and after 1 month of him being a changed man they get engaged.
2. He is a douche, shes not the brightest crayon in the box.
3. They haven't asked me yet.
4. I really do not want to do it as I know I am not at all near that caliber of a photographer.

Options::waiting:
1. Could say go f*** yourself, i.e. "no"
2. Could just do it with really no worry of how good or bad the pics come out.
3. Guess I could try to prepare myself for it to do the best job I possibly could.(perfect learning experience for me since I don't care)

So what I am asking.... given the situation, what would you do?

:peacemrgreen:

I would use option 1 with a few more choice words

I can feel the excitement here.

First thing that comes to mind is that you won't be into it (not sure why I'd think that). I'd pass on it and get drunk instead.

Go with 1 or 3.....

I would stray from letting personal emotions getting in the way of a good decision...

If you can't do that, just decline if you get asked, there's no reason to do a mediocre job on purpose, in my book.

Sounds like you do need some help on this. It would probably be better if you didn't photograph their event. Unless of course they want photos that drip with disdain and loathing.

Seems like it doesn't matter either way...

I guess no harm done, choose whatever you wish. Personally, I'd do it for the practice unless I didn't want the practice. A 35mm f/1.8 wouldn't be a bad investment either, for the wedding or just in general.

Unless of course they want photos that drip with disdain and loathing.

LOL awesome..

What would I do? Well lets be honest here, what you should do is number one. What I would do (given that I am an a$$ and if I had that much disdain for them I would use them like Kleenex) is number three. :er:

Nice! :lmao:

And see I was going to suggest shooting the wedding but just leaving the groom out of all the shots. :-P

Nah seriously, don't do it. If you feel that strongly towards the guy, I imagine your family knows that, so I'd say that I'd be happy to attend the wedding to support my sister-in-law, but I don't feel I'm the best person for the job.

The choice is clear. Option 1 and never look back.

Looking at the first two "situations".... She is not marrying sobolik by and chance is she?

Well, they haven't asked you yet so you're still good! Sit it out and knock back a few drinks ;)

I didnt want to do my firends wedding and I just told them that I wanted to be able to enjoy the wedding not be worried about running around making sure everyone has thier picture taken and working... she understood and found someone else to ask...
