What's new

another wedding thread..

Well, they haven't asked you yet so you're still good! Sit it out and knock back a few drinks ;)

Well they did, yelling from another room, which I just ignored hearing. They asked my wife, but she wouldn't answer for me. So it is coming.

As option one is high on the list right now, I really think it could be a great opportunity to learn. Yea, the whole dripping with disdain thing.... I am sure I could get past the hatred and just try to get the experience. I am going to have to go to the wedding one way or the other, so I guess I could get some benefit from it.

All suggestions for other options are welcome.

A 35mm f/1.8 wouldn't be a bad investment either, for the wedding or just in general.

I have been looking to get this lens or a 50mm anyways. Right now I am wishing I bought the D90 instead of the D5000 so I didn't have to pay more for the AF-S lens.
I really don't feel I have the gear for the occassion. This would either mean renting, borrowing, or buying. Would love to buy more, but I have other debts to pay off.

What I would do:
1) Go to the wedding -

2) Leave the camera behind -

3) Try not to get too bored or drink too much and in general just socialise

4) Apparently profit goes here

Tell them $5000 then shoot them all out of focus

Maybe you just do it because you love your wife and you love your SIL because you love your wife and would not want her to be unhappy if you said no. Imagine that wedge between you for-ever if you said no. If you love your family you leave them to their happiness, even if its not owned or supported by us. That is love.

And maybe one day if you are lucky, you will be rewarded with nieces and you'll want to take pictures of them. So look on the bright side.

Good Luck. ;)

#1 for me!
Here's a great excuse - you're gear isn't sufficient to shoot a wedding.
No backup! :)

I hope the douchebag does not hit her.
