The top of the car is totally blown out.
I didn't have a CPF with me.
How can I get some more detail in the top of the car, other than HDR?

Asking how to get a higher dynamic range out of the image without using HDR techniques is like asking how to shoot somebody without ammunition.

Wall in back is kind of distracting, just like placing a subject in a scene you may want to pull them away from the background to make them stand out.
You could try shooting at a different time of day. Maybe a ladder at the location may have helped as well , a little change in angle may surprise you. Remove the parking pass from the mirror, attention is suppose to be the car. Photographers always did fine before we had the HDR phase..You did fine with what you had.
