Hi yall, i have a question : i have Lightroom 4 and need to know if getting Nik silver pro 11 will benefit me in doing my conversions?? Thanks, virgil

"The Darkroom" is probably not the best place to ask this question...

B&W conversion is possibly the simplest task any software will have to perform!
Therefore, I would suggest: …the best way to have cool B&Ws is to start with the proper colours,
WB, contrast etc before converting!

Why not download the demo version and try it.

Silver efex pro is awesome. I just bought the collection about a week ago and of the collection dfine and silver are my favorites.

Just curious what it does that lightroom doesnt.. Ive been using lightroom for four years and im happy with it, just dont want to miss out if something is better. Thanks yall

It allows you to choose the rendition of different types of b&w film. As mentioned, download it for a 15 day free trial and make up your own mind. I was sold in 2 days.

Agreed. There is no 'conversion' in the darkroom. Getting the look of a certain b&w film means loading that film into the camera :)

I'd say Graphics Programs.

Here you go, Virgil. :) Hopefully you'll get better answers about conversion in the Graphics forum than from the real B&W users of film. ;)
