Batteries mAh question

I would to get a backup battery for my Sony DSC-H10.

I've found a new that have higher mAh than the stock battery.

says 1400 mAh

and

says 960 mAh

The first link has 0 reviews, while the second has 28 reviews. Is the higher value the better? Why would someone buy the 960 over the 1400?

Longevity. They generally sacrifice some longevity in favour of higher single charge. This may mean that you're reduced to 1000 recharges instead of 1500 or something else quite so meaningless for such a cheap part before your battery gives up.

Btw I'm pulling these numbers from where the sun don't shine. But the relationship still holds.

I've been using off-brand batteries in my Canon cameras (from www.sterlingtek.com) for years with no problems.
