Beginner's Portrait!

About a 10 min edit - WB & tint in LR5, softened the dryness of the lips (it was irritating to me haha), bit of unsharp mask on the eye(s) to make it pop more, and a slight boost in contrast. Found the green tint stubborn to get rid of. I might have pushed it too warm as that is a bad habit of mine, but it's somewhere between the original and Derrel's cool edit.

Really nice portrait IMO, I really tend to love outdoorsy shots like this, bit of a fairytale effect.

I'm sorry to just now be replying! Thanks so much for all the advice! I actually didn't even notice the green tint to her skin until you guys pointed it out, I guess that's what happens when you stare at the same picture too long adjusting WB by small increments. It's wonderful to have your fresh eyes, I definitely see the green now! White balance is kicking my butt, but I'm determined to get it right eventually! LOL

This is a beautiful edit! Thanks for doing that so I can compare it to mine, that makes the differences much easier to pinpoint! I love outdoor shots for the same reason, they can be so whimsical.

I'm incredibly happy to see so many people suggesting LR5, as that is the software I was leaning towards.

Thanks for the suggestion, Gimp looks like it has a ton of color options to play around with. However it doesn't seem to be able to open RAW files, which is what I've been shooting in. I've only recently switched to RAW from JPEG and I already love how much control I have over the picture, even if I haven't quite mastered using that control correctly yet. LOL

The Photoshop CS (Ps 8) Derrel used is from 2003 - 2005.
CS 2 (Ps 9) was from 2005 - 2007.
The current Photoshop CC is Ps 14.2.

I now have LightRoom5. Hooray! How is this edit? Now that I'm back on this thread I realize that my new edit looks very close to the one LCLimages did for me. LOL
