Best Buy not the Best Buy or is it?

I'm reading this again....you took your Nikon to Bestbuy to let them clean the sensor? I didn't even know the geek squad attempted such work. Hopefully they youtube how to do it before they go into the cam.

apparently they send it out (prob. to b&h, adorama, calumet ect.) thats how they lost it to begin with.

Isn't the shutter count in the exif on Nikon cameras? Just view the exif and it should be there. No need to upload a picture somewhere.

All the 'shutter count calculator' is going to do is read the exif and tell you the same thing you could have found on your own by right clicking the file. Unless I am missing something...?

I recommend you learn to do it yourself.

$30 for enough supplies to keep you going for a couple of years.

The directions that come with that kit are very clear and easy to follow. They have a video tutorial on their website too. It isn't as hard as you might think it is.

They send it out for free if you get the 4 yr warranty for it, but the down side to that is that you don't have your camera for more than 2 weeks. I thought it was really complicated (granted I didn't look up how to do it myself) so thats why I had thenm do it and it was free.

On that Best Buy note, I don't think I would ever go to them for anything other than memory cards, unless they had some crazy sale going on.

I bet if you used the Nikon software that came with the camera the serial number could be found in the exif info of a picture you have taken with the camera.

Customer Representative. Best Buy has one for each store. Also Home depot and Lowes, etc. hold your ground and contact corporate if have too. Went to BB to buy Bose Speakers for surround sound and each one's sound room was not working. Talked to customer rep and manager. Complained and got 300 off speakers.

Getting someone else's property is pretty bad but from what the op said they just sent it to the wrong person and didn't plan on giving him anything in return. I could be misreading the post though.

That's exactly what he said, you read it correctly.

Bestbuy did this to me once with a camcorder I hand under their in-store warranty.

Since then I only buy from newegg.com and B and h.

And Fry's Electronics for things I can't wait to have delivered.

No, I gave them my name and the sales person read back to me my phone number so I said yes thats me. I didn't know they had a totally wrong address for me. I live in california, and last time I checked thats nowhere near here. I do accept fault for not checking the invoice, but it wasnt me that shipped it off to someone else and them try to say it was my fault.

I've been there and I have also rented from there but since the sensor cleaning is free with the four year warranty best buys offers, I thought I would save myself a few bucks and have them ship it out to get it cleaned.

So after the closing of The Wiz, CompUSA, Circuit City, and 6 Ave in my area, you'd think that Best Buy would be doing well but they are not. Its pretty clear that Best Buy itself is its worst enemy. Yes.. I've had problems with Best Buy as well. I usually take my business to the one other electronics store in the area Microcenter... sales tax abatement too.
