Best Buy not the Best Buy or is it?

Just venting my frustrations I guess. So 2 years ago I finally decided to pick up a camera and get to learning and making photos. I didn't have money to buy it cash but thanks to my mom and her good credit i was able to get a d90 from best buy on credit. Well owning the camera has brought me a lot of joy and happiness. I took my d90 to get the sensor cleaned... 3 weeks ago! So I'm all excited to go pick up my camera only to find out they delivered it to somebody in Nevada . Then I was told that there was nothing they could do for me. Really? they lost my camera and they can't do nothing for me? so after talking with several managers they finally agree to give me a new d90 (yes that means I'm getting a new camera and kit lens) so i will be getting a new d90 set up.... in 3 weeks. So 6 weeks and 3 hours at bestbuy arguing to get a new camera when all I wanted was to get my sensor cleaned. So is Best Buy really a Best Buy? :scratch:

Wow, so their first response was "we lost your camera, go buy a new one"? Does the dude in Nevada just get to keep your old camera? At least your getting a brand new camera and lens. I would check to make sure it is not a refurbished unit or something.

Some stores do this routinely, apparently. Some years ago I send in a circular saw upon which I had already inscribed a "witness mark" to enable me to find exact zero tilt. When I got "the saw" back, it was some other saw, not the one I sent in.

Anybody else send in a camera and received another in return? I will be sure to record the serial number if I need to send mine in.

Getting someone else's property is pretty bad but from what the op said they just sent it to the wrong person and didn't plan on giving him anything in return. I could be misreading the post though.

I never heard of that either, I'm really surprise gave you a hard time about giving you a new camera for their obvious mistake. OP, take a picture an upload it to a shutter count calculator website to make sure it's new.

Bestbuy is the Worstbuy.

A financial freind explained to me bestbuy is the "storefront" for BHPHOTO, Adorama, Newegg, Amazon, etc.

People go in bestbuy to look at products then order them online cheaper and without sales tax (for most states).

I've never shopped at Bestbuy but it seems I can't go one month without hearing something bad about them. From their "interest free" loans, to their halfwitted sales people, and now they are pulling the bait and switch, without the switch! At this point I wouldn't buy a peice of bubblegum from one those coin machines if it was sitting in front of their store.

I do shop at the from there from time to time. I bought a 70-300mm lens and the rep basically told me the same thing of what I researched. "decent telephoto lens for the money, but doesn't perform well in low light situations". A lot of these people are students that is learning the craft as we are, but are not good at selling. But argueing with managers of that magnitude is down right unacceptable.

On the work order they gave me it showed the wrong address but I didn't notice until it was time to pick up the camera so I think they were making it a big deal because they thought that maybe I was in cahoots with that person but i told them I brought it to the store (oceanside CA.)and was suppose to pick it up at the store. I wondered if the person gets to keep the camera too, maybe the geek squad will send the geek patrol to retrieve it. In the future I will also record SN before I take it in (good idea DESIGNER) Yeah the whole situation sucks and I will not accept the camera if it is not in a new and sealed box. I couldn't believe they pretty much screwed up and didn't want to replace it. You did not mis read the post.

I'm reading this again....you took your Nikon to Bestbuy to let them clean the sensor? I didn't even know the geek squad attempted such work. Hopefully they youtube how to do it before they go into the cam.

Google shutter count calculatior upload the nef (Nikon raw format) it will display all the metadata it should be 1

Isn't the shutter count in the exif on Nikon cameras? Just view the exif and it should be there. No need to upload a picture somewhere.

All the 'shutter count calculator' is going to do is read the exif and tell you the same thing you could have found on your own by right clicking the file. Unless I am missing something...?
