BG-E20 compatible with 5D mark iii?

Hi, Looking at a used 5d mark iii, and it supposedly has a bg-e20 battery grip with it. I only see the bg-e20 being promoted for use with the mark iv. Does anyone know if this is also back-compatible with the mark iii? Thanks.

It does not look like it's compatible. Designed specifically for the mark IV. The mark III uses the bg-e11.

That's what I was finding. Thanks for responding and confirming my suspicions. Not sure if the guy is just showing the wrong box or what but need to confirm before purchase. Thanks again!

No — I still own both cameras and battery grips. The grip for the 5D IV does not fit the 5D III.

You’ll need a BG-E11 for a 5D III body.
