Bird reflection

I went to the Homosassa state park here in florida today.

I think this is my best shot from the day... please give me some c&c and let me know what you think. I think I could of gotten better focus maybe?

Im a beginner,so I don't know about how you could improve on that shot,looks like a very nice capture of a water turkey to me.

Nice shot but it does look like your focus was more on the wing than the eye.

Yeah, the problem with the focus was.... the bird was very far away. I had to use all of my 300mm to get this close. I have a hard time focusing when the object is that far.

I think that this is very nice photo.It is not easy to "catch" a bird.
I hope I will be able to take such nice photos too.I just started to photograph birds.

Thanks. I think its my best shot so far in my young photography journey. The focus on the yes isnt perfect but I am still learning. I think I probably could of changed the settings to get better depth of field and maybe it would of came out better.

So far I am proudest of this pic.

What kind of lenses you used?
I am going to buy new lenses /I have Canon 450D and Canon 70-300mm IS USM lenses./and I am thinking about Sigma 150-500mm or Sigma 50-500mm,and I still don`t know which choose.
