I think this is a Black Fly. I was visiting a Refuge on the Eastern Shore. These damn things BITE!!!!!

wicked bug. Think i saw one of those in Germany, couldnt get a good shot of it though. Was amazed how big it was. Glad it didnt bite me

bite alot to!!! i got a bite above my eye and my eye was swollen shut the weekend.

the first has to be my favorite, nice color in the eye and detail in the wing to great job!
