BW Model Shot for C&C

This is a BW conversion from colour from a session on Saturday. C&C are welcome.

Here's a second one. I like the simplicity of the curve in this one.

The lighting on the first one looks pretty good. I like the first shot alot better. My only complaint is how dark the area around her eyes is. I know this is intentional, but I never liked the look of it.

As for the second photo, it's nice. I like the composition and lighting, but I wish there was a stronger rim light, as her dress blends into the background with no way to tell where one ends and the other begins. Then again, I'm on my uncalibrated laptop right now, so it's possible that my monitor is playing tricks on me.

Thanks for looking and commenting. I did have some trouble with that second dress because the material is so flat it just sucked up the light. If I went hotter with the rime light to bring out the edges, it introduced flares and started bouncing light into the background material. I didn't have any grids or flags with me to help control that. I kind of like the simplicity of the single rim of light highlighting the curve, but the very things you point out are one of the reasons I posted this image for C&C. So, thanks for your insight.

Haha, there is never an excuse for not having modifiers! There is a reason that I keep gaffers tape in my bag at ALL times, along with some different sized pieces of cardboard, that I've painted white on one side, and flat black on the other.

I can build flags, bounce cards, snoots, you name it. I use it more often than my soft boxes or umbrellas. Probably the cheapest, yet most valuable tool in my flash kit.
