Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hey so this is my second c&c request and these pictures are a bit old. I had a big computer crash and I completely lost all editing software :x! So I have not edited any photos since then. Well I hope you like these!

1.) this is in my neighbors backyard, the colors in the trees was just beautiful and the chairs stood out really well.

2.) Yes I know that leaf in the background it horrible, but I have no clue how to get rid of it :/

I like the second one, cool bird never saw one like that before.

#1 is a bit tilted. Both shots were taken in direct strong sunlight. What time did you took those photos?
#2 looks a bit soft and the heavy shadows washed the details away.

The bird was at the zoo, so I have no clue what type of bird it is. It was in a bird room and you could feed them so they werent afraid of anything! This one tried to peck my camera to death haha my dad had to distract him with his sunglasses.
Both of these were taken in the middle to the end of the day, maybe between 2 and 4. There was a ton of sun, but in the bird house there was a roof so it was partially lighted, making it light on one side and dark on the other.

You needed to use flash on the bird to balance the harsh bright sun lit background.

I cloned over the super bright leaf, and added a stop and a half of exposure to the bird, which still wasn't anywhere near enough.

Yes well the best setting on my camera is the macro setting, which disables flash. I have a point and shoot so I dont have much of an option.

You are using macro setting on all of your shots?

It doesnt have a manual mode?

Usually only the end end digital compact cameras have a full manual mode. For my compact camera, I can only choose to change the ISO, EV, white balance and flash.

^That. I have no manual mode at all. I can use the preset options, which I do, but its really a guess with what your going to get. The settings descriptions dont give you any information, just a general summary like if its on sports then it will make fast moving objects not blurry...no help. I dont use macro on all my photos, I just happened to use it on the second one. I do not remember what I used on the first one, probably the "landscape" or "sunset" scene mode. I used macro on the second because I was very close to the bird, there was no zooming in involved. I was so close he was trying to take a bite of my camera, which did make for some interesting shots haha, but all the other ones came out blurry or messed up, this was the best shot. Well, actually its the best shot out of the ones I still have, after my computer crashed, all I had was my flickr photos.

Well, if you study how tyhe exposure triad works, and think about how the camera works you can make some valid assumptions about what each 'mode' does.

Sports mode makes sure the shutte speed doesn't get to low. Think about why macro mode disables the flash.

No, I do have some pretty good guesses as to what the different modes do actually, its just annoying how I cant quite know for sure. And I am planning on getting a DSLR in the near future, possibly in december for christmas/my birthday. I know why macro mode disables flash, and I did take other pictures without using macro, but none came out good. This was the best I could get.

EDIT: Here is a cropped and edited picture, I bumped up the exposure then cropped it.

bumpppp!

I like the one of the bird after you edited it. I have a Canon Powershot A490.. It was a cheap ($80) camera that doesn't have too many settings. I've learned that if you spend enough time with it and mess with EVERYTHING on it (+Photoshop) you can make some pretty amazing photos. My biggest complaint is the lack of swappable lenses and having 3.3x Optical zoom top.
