I look at posting as a way to share my pleasure in an image and it is a bonus if someone has bothered to comment - even just a one-worder of smiley. I have had constructive and helpful comments which have been of use. They are a friendly bunch here with a wide range of expertese and and artistic standpoints. I tend not to be a one word user so perhaps i should take more time to comment. i take lots of minutes of meetings and so do not say anything if those above have - I meet too any of what I call sheep at meetings! Do post - many will be too lazy to follow your link and if the images ther are an example of your work you have plenty to share. Make good use of that 40D - I am well on the way to wearing mine out!

Thanks. Just new to the digital and colour photography so a bit unsure. I loved B&W film but it just seemed like different medium in some very odd way.

Well they are and they aren't lol. BW just seems to have different compositional needs than color making BW as a whole a feel different from color.

(Again with this hindsight of mine) Now that I think about it, having had to bump images to spur comments, having gotten none at all, and in some cases literally asking for them I have found that makes photos that just take off and get comments quickly and keep comming back on their own feel that much better. As was the case on these:

Those made me feel like I accomplished something

I have found over the last month or so, all the forums are slow. Funny cause I have seen more threads like this on other forums about the lack of activity. Im on forums that are non photography related, and they same thing is going on there. Many times I do what Corinna does, and search out older threads and reply to bump them back up.
Hang in there man. Things will pick up.

We need what we have on my tech forums. A link, like the "New Posts" one that is for posts with no replies. Makes it much easier to find people who have no responses to questions or pictures. On the Gentoo Forums that is the first link that I click, before the New Posts one.

We have the same thing on PL, FaAC, FuAC, and HF but we run phpBB, does VB support this?

I don't know if it does or not. You have basic "sort by", so I don't see why you couldn't have sort by date then number of replies.

All the other forums I am on also use phpBB. I, personally, like it better, but thats just me. It is a lot simpler, and I think gets the job done much easier. But I can see why they chose to use vBulletin because of the extra features it supplies.

sometime the usual suspects for commenting on images are just away, busy or just did not stumble across the image you posted .... then it goes down unnoticed and uncommented. this happens and is usually not related to the quality of the image.

If you get comments or not is more a question of timing (time of the day, weekday, season).

BTW, most of my images would remain uncommented if i did not give them a second bump sometimes.
