Cable Release For 10D

anyone have any good ideas on a cable release for the ole 10D? i saw one that was around 50 bucks. i thought that was kinda high...

Do they use the same one as the film cameras? Sorry, I've never even held a Canon let alone know what remote shutter they take. You may be able to find instructions to make your own with a bit of searching. I made one for my dynax and posted it here when I joined.

I was going to suggest the same thing, I also made one for my Maxxum (aka Dynax). It wasn't that hard... Making the plug for the camera was the hardest part!

there is no threaded hole in the shutter button to screw anything into, and i dont even want to begin to try and make something on my own. i guess i could look into how difficult it would be..

I know you can control the shutter and all the settings via a laptop connected by a USB cable. The remote might be so expensive because it needs a chip and software to do what it does.

I can't seem to find a remote cable for my old Canon EOS 650 for less than $70 CDN. I don't know why it's so freakin expensive.

I always use the timer when on the tripod...but it just sucks so much....especially when I forget that I left it on timer mode and I'm trying to take candids at a later date.

Got mine for a tiny bit less than this with the shipping but at half the price of the Canon unit it's still a heck of a deal.

Had mine for a couple of moths now works absolutely perfect for me

Problem is Canon went and overengineered the remote socket so badly on here that you would need a CNC lathe and a staff of guys in white coats just to make a rough replica! There are three pins for the connector that are each barely thicker than human hair. I don't know why it has to be so damn intricate :evil:

Heh, but yet they give us the simple standard studio flash sync socket that even my AE-1 has on it

I suppose that'll be the next thing to go :?

Mine has three bronze pins made on a lathe. The holes are .7mm I think.
The cable for the dynax is really expensive to. All it is is three pins, a bit of wire and one switch. The cheapest version (converted to dollars) is $77. All you get is 50cm of cable. The expensive version which is 5 metres long is $96. Mine cost me the price of a tin of sweets (less than £2) in the end. Everything else was found around the house. It's also a lot more versatile than the Minolta version.

How exactly can companies justify prices like that?
