Hi I own a dirt racing website, and this year I want to get into photography. I have a budget of $400-$600 and the camera's I am considering are the Nikon D5000, D3100 and the D60. I have come close to purchasing a camera multiple times on ebay but I am scared to pull the trigger because you can read good and bad about all of them. I am looking for the best camera to take speed shots, in partial to full light.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not familiar enough with the Nikon line-up to know which one of those would be better for your needs, but I will say that using the right lens can be just as much (or much more) important than the camera body you choose.

Unfortunately, shooting sports is one of the more demanding thing you can want your camera/lens to do...and as such, the best lenses for shooting sports, can also be the more expensive lenses.

In bright daylight, it's not so much of an issue, but when the light isn't great, you will want a lens with a large maximum aperture.

Why not just give me the money and I'll send you a bunch of offroading shots. :)

On a serious note, you won't get good equipment for shooting motorsports on that budget. I would start saving for a high ISO rapid shooter and a good 70-200 f/2.8.
