I would take the color balance a hair away from yellow, or try some local adjustments, to tone down the yellow lighting on the (camera) left side of his face, it looks a little sickly. Well, it looks fine until you see it, and then you can't UN see it, and then it looks a little sickly

Yeah, my WB setting was FUBAR and I wasn't paying attention when I took these. I'm going to reshoot on Monday when he's in a suit and make it all better. I am trying to avoid dragging all my lighting equipment to work on the train...that would suck!

Do you have a grey card? Do you have a white room? I'd shoot a grey card using the same settings you'd use for his portrait (maybe even include it in the frame and then clone it out later), to adjust your WB. As for the white room, if you bounce the flash off the back wall which would be white, you should have a pretty good "large" light.

The fellow still looks too ruddy, even in the corrected image somebody put up. I would suggest a TINT slider adjustment, not just a WB adjustment. Both the man and the backdrop need to be "cooled down" quite a bit.

I own CS6 but barely know it because I've only just purchased it a few months ago. Would I import the background through CS6 or LR?

I guess I could also take a photograph of the backdrop and combine the 2 images together? I'm not an expert on this type of work.

He just said he hates the white background. Is there a simple tool in CS6 or LR4 to change the background?

You can use the Magic Wand, or Quick Selection tools along with Refine Edge, or the Color Range feature.

If you haven't already, you need to get the Martin Evening book if you want to have any hope of learning how to use even a fraction of what is available in CS 6.

Geez people know how to over complicate a simple stand and shoot. The only thing that you should have done was had him stand a little sideways, turn his head back towards you, background is fine. Kick some cyan into the shot, and take the red out, crop it tighter and make it less square, also takes out the empty background space.
