Canon 40d troubleshooting

I have a canon 40d and every now and then it locks up. I use a 430exII flash connected to it. I will shoot then all of a sudden it will not register or shoot. I have to remove the battery and flash card for it to reset. Just wondering if any of you have had this problem and know of a fix action.. Thanks in advance.

Does is display an error code (Err 99 for example)?

First thing to check, is that the battery contacts are clean. Maybe try a different battery.

Make sure the lens/camera contacts are clean as well.

If the problem persists, you might want to send it in to a Canon Service centre.

Cant remember if their was and error code, when I looked at the display I it was blank their was nothing to read. I will get a new battery and clean my old one... thanks for the help Big Mike.
