canon 7d on ebay

[TomJam]

Hello all.

Total noob here. So I am buying a camera for my girlfriends birthday. She has told me she wants a canon 7d. The advertised price on the canon website is ove $2000. I have found this ad at ebay Canon EOS 7D Body ONLY 18.0 MP Limited Offer DHL SALES | eBay. Is this legit? Should I purchase this camera?

Say this with me slowly... "If it sounds too good to be true..."

eBay protip: never order from Hong Kong. Buy from your country only.

Just a point but Manufacture websites can often have much higher prices than retail - check the local brick and morter shops as well as main online dealers (like Amazon and other big name dealers). If the price is way cheaper than theirs then its best to avoid.

*has several things from Hong Kong and barring one package taking a fairly long while to get here never had any problems*

if she was a very serious photographer she would be buying her own gear and not getting it as a present.

I'd just like to point out that the original Ebay link provided by the OP lists it as Ebay.au - which I'm fairly sure means that they are in Australia not the US; so pricing is going to differ and US based deals are not going to be a viable option.

[KmH]

True, but not everyone reading the thread is in the AU, or even a TPF member, so the US offerings may still be useful to someone reading the thread.

I've seen used 7D's sell for around 1300-1350 on POTN. Of course, YMMV.
