Can't decide what digital camera to get.

Hello, I can't decide what camera to get. I have a budget of 200-400 USD. I want a good camera with 16-18 mp with a good zoom on it. Either a Pentax,Nikon,Sony,or other good brands.

Get the Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm lens
It is lower in its MP count but MP really isnt as important as low light performance and overall picture quality.
You are getting here a DSLR camera and for the price this is a lot of quality and functions.

What kind of photos are you planning to take? Family events or travel/vacations type photos? Camera that good at the zoo or air shows? Small enough to fit a shirt pocket? Can shoot few feet under water? Do you mind changing the lens of the camera?

Well you could stop being ludicrously vague and tell us what cameras you're looking at so we can give you opinions on those. Rather than suggesting cameras and you saying "not what I'm looking for."
