Caracara Edits

Post-processing makes the image. Below I show my (cropped) original of a yellow-headed Caracara and the final edit.

I did the editing in Lightroom Classic 13. What I did:

- Masked the bird and then brightened it
- Darkened the background
- Removed distracting vegetation using Adobe AI remove tool
- Burned some highlights at the top edge of the bird's head
- Darkened the background at the upper left, and tinted it more yellow-green
- Burned the lower edge.

Maybe I should do a denoise on it, but I haven't done that yet.

Making the subject brighter is an old trick of environmental portrait photographers. It makes the subject pop.
