Stupid blizzard, supposed to get 1-2 feet here. I decided to go stand out in the snow for awhile and see if anything other than sparrows showed up. It's really tough during a blizzard. Had to combine +EC on camera negative on the flash, I just kept playing with settings. At least the female poked her head out a few times. The male only made a brief appearance...

Nice shots Coastal! But damn you, I shot these guys today in the snow also with not quite so good results :P

very nice shots! tack sharp. wish I was that good!

Man you just keep them coming. Very nicely done. I am starting to think the females are prettier!
How close were they?

Well done, buddy. Cardinals just look so great in the snow. I shot some a few years ago and they are among my favorites. That red color looks great against a white background.

Now you know what I'm dealing with all winter long. Oh! And for once I'm not getting hammered with feet of snow! ;) That's why I had inquired on one of your other post if you used the "better Beamer flash extender". You captured some nice images here.

What's with the blizzard?
I thought the Cardinals were in Arizona!

Oh im Soooooo funny.
Anyway those are great shots, I like the second one the best.
The third one seems to pop off the background..if that makes any sense at all.

Thanks everyone.
@JacaRanda, I think I was 15-20 feet away from the cardinals. I was dressed in camo and and waited patiently. I actually like the females better myself.
@baturn, other than these 2 cardinals all I have is sparrows, an occasional titmouse and chickadee
@shefjr, I just used my shoe flash, I think I answered you in that thread? Its a Sigma DG "super" 500 and it is a PITA to work with. I have tried the better beamer once and I did not like it. I was trying many different settings, but I think these all ended up being spot with -.3 on the flash..
@ Blitz haha

wow, amazing shots! Such beautiful colors & details...very nice!

I was lucky only got 20" many surrounding towns had 34-38" . I'm on the coast so it mixed over a little bit with rain and freezing ice. It kept accumulation down but it was a PITA to shovel :(
