I volunteered to take some group photos of my daughter and her friends, on campus, prior to their upcoming graduation in 2 weeks.

This one had really challenging conditions - mid day harsh light, location out in the open sun, 16 subjects at once, all wearing white dresses and the biggest issue of all, I am really out of practice!

Pretty good, IMO. Not sure if a ND or a CP may have helped tone down the brights.

I brightened the girls and toned down the background but I do see a couple of hot spots shining between their dresses that I may go in and try to selectively dodge and burn.

I don’t like to use CP or ND on people pics - I never like the results. I should have tried it on a few of these to see if it helped.

A nice job. I agree with cgw - the subjects seem to be very happy so a great memory preserved.

PS - I can't figure out which one is Princess. 😊

I think this turned out well! It's the worst when you have such difficult lighting to work with, but you handled it like a pro. I love how you can see the shadows of the caps on the ground. Congrats to your daughter!!

This is a great timed picture. Nice job

The most important thing to remember is you captured a moment in time that can never be truly repeated, creating a fun memory for you and them. I'd say that's a win any day!

Looks good to me. You have blue sky with clouds, a parking lot, detail in your shadows. What more could a person ask for?

But I’m suspicious of guys named Duane.

Nice. I'd look past the technical stuff and measure it by the grads' reactions to a shot of a happy milestone occasion.
Yes the girls loved it. I have a lot of photos to go through and edit. It’s going to rain here all next week so I should have plenty of time.

7th from the left. Both feet on the ground looking up. Can’t really see her face in this one. I’ll share a few of the solo ones later.

They are a fun group and were very appreciative of me taking the photos for them. I had a blast despite the less than ideal conditions. The subjects being young and pretty goes a long way toward overcoming harsh lighting.

Thanks! I didn’t even noticed that about the caps. It does look cool!
