Christmas is coming - photography accessories?

I've really been enjoying using my Canon 1000D and the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens it came with over the past month and would like to expand the equipment I have at my disposal!

With Christmas coming up I thought it'd be a great time to get some more accessories and/or lenses.

What I currently have:

• Camera with 18-55mm lens
• Tripod

I'm quite keen on getting some good shots of some wildlife, and so think a telephoto lens is definitely on the cards. I've had my eye on this:

From the price, it looks like an entry level lens, so would this be ok?

What else would people suggest? I'm not bothered about what I need as such, because I realise I already have the kit to take some great shots. I'm just wondering what else is out there that I could make use of.

Just keep in mind if you plan on upgrading your body you may want to stay away from EF-S lenses. they only work on select bodies.
