Clear a few things up

I just had my first day of photography, ill be shooting my dads EOS 630, now i have the 50 1.8 that fits on it, i know the xti kit lens wont fit, and im pretty sure the sigma 70-300 apo dg i have will, am i correct? also, the 430ex flash will work as well correct? i just read how external flashes cant be synced at faster than 1/125 seconds.

That's right...the 18-55 kit lens won't work. (No EF-S lenses will...but EF lenses will)

I believe the Sigma 70-300 should work.
The 430EX flash should also work.

The max sync speed is dependant on the camera. 1/125 sounds about right for the EOS 630.

Have fun with the old beast. I'm sure you will love how much bigger and brighter the viewfinder is on the 630 than on your XTi.

Look on your lenses for the red dot. If they have that near the mount, it'll fit. If it's a white square, you're outta luck (ef-s).

The flash will work also.
