Cokin A Series filters

Howdy
I just found 10 Cokin A series filters in my parents basement that I used back in my Pentax K1000 & Pentax ME Supra Film days. Doing a whole bunch of research on the A series, I know they are not the norm in today's world, but the P Series is. I am using an Olympus E-620 and Canon Powershot SX10. Just wondering if I should buy the adapter A series rings for 52 mm and 58 mm or buy the A to P ring? To me it would be a shame to not be able to use the holder and filters. It depends on what lenses you intend to use them on. The A series is physically smaller and on larger front elements will vignette your photos.

As far as I know, the difference between A and P is only the size. A series filters are smaller, so they may not cover the front element of larger (diameter) lenses.

You may get a little more coverage if you just hold the filter up against the lens with your hand. Many photographers shoot that way anyway, rather than using the filter holder.

I managed to find the adapter rings here in Calgary at Saneal Cameras plus an 8 ND filter. Now I can hardly wait to get back to Kelowna to use them. I will be using the Cokin A on my Zuiko Digital ED 70-300mm F4.0-5.6 and Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 Lenses so I should be alright. But if I get any Vignetting I'll do as Big Mike said hold the filter in front of my lense and not move a mm. Ha Ha. Thanks again.[h=3][/h]
