Yep Joshh, after reading it again he said he can get it to fire with the little cord.

So I'm thinking the only thing he needs is a COLD shoe that has a 1/4-20 Thread on the boittom that can screw onto the tripod

Yep, that's what I'm thinking too. Throw in a roll of tape or a large rubber band to secure the receiver to either the flash or stand (so it doesn't come unplugged and fall off).

Thanks guys for trying to sort all of this out for me. I guess I should've been more specific. I can plug that wire into my flash, but I want to fire the flash (off camera) when I hit my shutter button, it doesn't allow me to do that, is it because it won't allow me to use it ttl?

OK, so after plugging the receiver into your flash, you can fire it by pushing the test button on the transmitter - correct so far?

But with the transmitter in the hot shoe, it doesn't work?

If that is an accurate description of what is going on, replace all of the batteries. Transmitter and receiver. Sometimes they will have enough charge to work with the test button, but not enough when you actually try to take a picture. I don't know why that is though...

The batteries in the transmitter generally last much longer than the ones in the receiver tough.

This is assuming that the plug on the receiver is a PC connector. Disregard this post if it is 3.5mm.

When I plug that into my flash, like you say, and the other piece on the hot shoe of my camera, is it gonna transmit to my flash (off camera), when I fire the shutter?

It should. If it doesn't, the batteries are probably low. Make sure the dip-switch settings on the receiver and transmitter match.

You may or may not be able to shoot at your maximum x-sync speed though. I can't with mine... 1/125 works fine though.

You're doing something wrong... You shouldn't even need that small cord.

OK, do this - Plug the receiver into your flash. Make sure the switches on the receiver and transmitter match. Holding the transmitter in your hand, click the test button on it.

Did the flash fire?

I cant plug the receiver into my flash, that end wont fit anything on my flash......the cord you say to use, if I don't have a hot shoe, that's the only cord that'll fit in my flash. Sorry to be such a pain in the ass man. I must have the wrong set up totally, I just thought I might be able to get it to work.

What type of plug is on the end of the cord coming off the receiver?

I think you need a different receiver... (Or an adapter for the plug.)

It sounds like the plug on the receiver is 3.5mm. If you don't mind modifying your flash, you can make it work for a couple bucks.

There are 3 things you can do (in order of how much it would cost, cheapest first):
1 - Replace the PC jack on your flash with a 3.5mm jack.
2 - Get a 3.5mm-to-PC adapter (if you can find one).
3 - Get a different receiver.

OK, if I am understanding this correctly, The only way you have ben getting the flash to fire is running that small wire from the Transmitter To your Flash. You have not been using the reciver at all because the Plug (a 3.5mm) Won't fit in the PC plug on the flash.

If you get something like this that has Both PC and 3.5mm Inputs, Then you can use the reciever part of your flash triggers

3.5mm look like Mini Headphone Plugs
PC PLugs look like Mini version of the power supply plugs of like laptops

The hot shoe adapter and the other trigger are about the same price... Either would work.

You wouldn't have to worry about cords at all with that trigger you linked on Amazon.
