Criminals Suck

My best friend was shot last night.

He is a police officer and was involved in a pursuit of a suspect involved in a "violent" carjacking. He was attempting to lay down stop-sticks when he was shot.

He is out of surgery already and will be okay, fortunately. It was non-life threatening gunshot to the leg. The suspect was not so fortunate, and won't be shooting anyone else... ever.

Just a reminder to have some appreciation and respect for your local law enforcement... most of them are husbands and fathers (and wives and mothers too!) just trying to "serve and protect" in their communities.

thanks for the kind words everybody. photo_gal, i'm fine, he was shot a little after midnight and i didn't get the call until 5am after he was already out of surgery and had the :thumbup: :thumbup: from the doctors... so i didn't have time to worry...

A lesson to all of us... Real life is tragic and we have no idea what the people standing between us and the nasty side of life are exposed to on a daily basis. Im also glad your friend will be alright.

I can only imagine the horror of his family, when they heard. The families suffer along with the police officer and firemen.,, There is a saying among the bad guys... your family does your time as well.... the same is true of the cops.... their families are equally willing to do thier time.... I have nothing but respect and admiration for policemen and thier families...

Jas, please give your friend my best wishes. As a Phoenician I have seen the crime rate go up through the ceiling in the past 10 years or so. It seems we're importing crime instead of art and civilization from the other large metropolitan areas in the Southwest.
