So I've finally ventured into the studio-esque photoshoot and Tom and I had the pleasure of working with Cristina who was totally awesome and patient with us during both shoots we have done with her! we were able to set up using the same gear as far as lighting which made working together very easy! here are some of my shots, CC welcome!

1 & 3 are both nice images; the cyan cast of #2 doesn't work for me. Either full colour or black/white monochrome would be better.

IMO, there is way too much going on in all these pictures.
All the little spangles and wires and gadgets just get all jumbled up and my eye gets pulled every which way.
It's hard to tell what you think is important and what to look at
Also, the border is pretty imposing.

Thanks Traveler for the advice but I think the significance of the type of guitar here is important... The Guitar is a Fender Jaguar which is the same color and style that Kurt Cobain of Nirvana played... by removing the complexity of the guitar and the Fender name on the headstock kinda looses what the guitar means to the overall picture... Yes with the whole guitar there is a lot going on but i think by taking it out it takes out some of what makes the picture meaningful...

I agree completely with the statement that there's too much going on in this set. I also think that the posing and clothing choices are unflattering for your model. In #1, the positioning of the guitar gives the impression that she has a lop-sided booty. Also, in shot #3 the mesh shirt she's wearing and her positioning is giving the impression that she is much wider.

I agree about the positioning about the guitar i notice that as well when doing the edits that the body of the guitar was not centered... can really do much about the attire tho thats what she wanted to wear...

It's a black and white photo, so the color isn't there as a reference anyway. There's a narrower viewing audience that would understand that it's "Kurt Cobain's" guitar, and I feel like that's lost in the images to begin with.

What relevance does Kurt Cobain have to the photoshoot in general? Surely he didn't commission it from the grave...?

I like them both really the blue is cool i thought at first but the B/W is stronger you're right!

That's the point Traveler made. If this shoot was about the guitar, then you need to play creative director and tell the chick how to dress. IF this indeed about the guitar, it needs to command focus.

well on that one shot yes the focus was shifted from the girl to the guitar

Well Andrew, you know how much I like the full guitar shot, but I gotta cay I completely see this photo in a different light after travelers edit, and you know how much I like that shot (We shot this set together so I have a very similar photo I really like). Minimizing the details with the tight crop and the removal of the lettering really adds something to the photo. It almost takes on a symmetry of sorts I guess....probably because the shifted hip is out of the picture now....
