D200 vs D300

I can purchase a D200 for $1300 or a D300 for $1800. Is the D300 worth $500 extra bucks? I've been looking at the D200 for a while and the price seems right now.

I think the d300 is a tremendous step above the d200 in terms of features. If you feel like they are worth the extra $500, then that's all that really matters. I personally am going to go for the d300 as I feel it is worth the extra $500.

I agree. I"m about to get a D300 too even though I could get the D200 for less mainly because of the features. But think about what you like in a camera, you'll get great pictures from both, but features in the D300 will be better.

Being able to shoot at the higher ISOs with the same quality will save you that much on your first lens.

But I still love my D200!

I'd get the D300 just for it's AF system. The added image quality is just a bonus.
