Digital photography retail profit ?

I work for a retailer that has a photo lab, we are by no means a "pro" shop but we use pretty decent paper. It costs us under 5 cents a print and we charge as little as 10 cents a print and at most 29 cents a print for digital. For processing film, we are very expensive but the cost after processing and printing is around 9 cents a print, but we charge 19 cents a print plus $2.19 for processing. The average profit margin for the photo lab is very close to 90%. Hope this helps.

Well it makes you wonder about markups. The 40D kit is going for about 1300.00 in Canada. Henry's. The 40D on it's own is 999.00, the 17-85mm is about 650.00 So that's around 1650.00 bought separately.

Why is the kit 1300.00 or so? It's the same lens but there seems to be a huge discount in kit form. Either it's a really over-priced lens on it's own or it's a really good deal on the kit... Wonder which it is...;)
