If you don't have your heart set on posting them online, why not a just make a CD for the wedding clients? That way they can have their own copy, without having to worry about getting them from a site. Another alternative would be a USB thumbdrive. They are fairly inexpensive (small ones) and have the advantage of being usable with a netbook. As for the construction client, email is probably fine, so long as the files aren't huge.

If you are still in doubt, ask! Most clients would probably appreciate being given the choice anyways.

I am a new photographer and recently posted some photos on a social network that led to two different people reaching out to me and asking me to photograph - one engagement photos and the other one a construction company that would like me to photograph their new office space. I am confident with my photography skills in being able to handle both of these jobs. However, I am lost with the next step - getting the photos to the clients. If, let's say, the construction company is interested in 8 final photos - would the best method be to simply email them? And with the engagement photos - let's say they are interested in 50 photos. Is there a photo sharing site that I could load them to and the couple would be able to log on and download the photos, or would email work best in this case as well?

I am a little lost as I am self taught and these are my first two paid clients where I have had to actually provide the products. I have shot various engagement photos, weddings, etc. as an assistant so I never had to deal with these details. Please help!
Images made for the construction company would be billed for much differently than the engagement images.

The construction company images would be billed separately for creation and usage, and is considered commercial photography because the construction company will be using them to help them make money.

The billing for the construction company usage would depend on exclusive or non-exclusive use, what media types, at what size, over what geographical area, for what time frame.
All of those terms would be written into a 'Use License'.
You might visit www.ASMP.org and on the left side of their home page click on 'Business Resources'.

As an example : For web use only, at no larger than 400 px by 400 px, I charge $35 per image to use them online for 3 months ($140 a year). At 400 to 600 pixels the charge is $50 per image for 3 months.

The engagement photos are retail photography and billed for their creation and personal use.
If you put the engagement photos online, the couple can just copy them off the Internet.

Don't forget to register your business with your state, and be sure you collect the applicable sales taxes your state expects any business to collect for them.

Business liability insurance is also a must because people get hurt during photography shoots more often than many new to the business realize.
