Do "all" image sensors use micro lenses?

Hello,

I recently learned about micro lenses being used to compensate for non-active regions on the image sensor. I was wondering whether only interline CCDs use micro lenses, or if all sensors use it?

Or are there other sensor technologies that require micro lenses? How about CMOS?

I assume you're referring to the micro lenses on the sensor.... not a micro lens for taking photos of small stuff ('micro' being Nikon's name for such lenses).

Yes, you're right. I mean the lenses used to capture more light for each pixel.

As far as I know, they do. But I'm no expert on the subject.

As far as I know, CMOS has lower fill factor than CCD (more circuitry on the sensor), so more need for microlenses to recover some light, but I too am not an expert, and I do not know the specifications of current sensors.
