I was just wondering if anyone did merchandise photography? Im not sure if this is the technical term or not.

If you do, do you do it on your own or are you part of a business that does it or?

If you do it on your own, how did you aproach the client?

Im trying to think of some "bread and butter" photography to do before I get my own studio, so I can afford some of the gear. And what better for bread and butter than taking pictures of bread and butter? hehe.

Also, what does the pricing range from? I think the papers around here get sent to 40,000 homes so the flyers would have that distribution. Plus they usually keep more in store.

You would want a portfolio to show people what you can do. I would spend some time using different lighting techniques with various different objects and build up a nice portfolio. Then you can worry about approaching potential clients.

Assuming I have hte portfolio and understand the different lighting techniques, then what?
