Does this work for portraiture?

Well, in that it's a photograph of a person, it is technically portraiture, but between the squinting eyes and deep shadow of his hat-brim, to me, it's one for the bit-bucket.

no.. you need someone to hold a big scrim to block the light hitting him, or shoot from different angle, or shoot at different time.

Considering the hat was blocking the sun, I'm sure the squinting is from the green stuff...I should know...having squinted for the last 19 years myself...
