If you could be dreaming about the future, what camera gear you would love to see to get on the market... what would it be ?
I'm not asking to write down a 5-500mm F1.4 lens...
But realistic! What do you want to see next? Start dreaming !

I was thinking on my DX camera for a 10-30mm F2.8 lens with VR of course.
And for more common use maybe a 15-50 F1.8 VR lens.
I think I'm already at the limit of being realistic, but why not

I´ve just placed my order on the Sigma 135 f1.8 that´s really something that comes pretty close to my dream lens if it performs as promised and as the few reviews say.
Other than that I need to say that the prices for medium professional cameras (like Canons 5D IV etc.) and lenses are climbing in a way that I think twice before I buy something new and therefore my dream equipment might not be economically reasonable. For example the old Canon 24-70 f2.8 was waaaaaay cheaper than the new one. Sure there is inflation, and this and that, but also production costs should have come down so why the "sudden" price hike.

But what I´d like to see

• an electronic shutter that will sync with any flash at any speed without losing too much flash power.
• ISO50, 25, 10,...
• ISO 10.000 without noise
• electronic shutter for every single pixel so that we get awesome dynamic range by exposing every pixel perfectly without the halo that HDR gives you
• Continous light with the same light output that flash has but without blinding people, no heat in a very small size and with infinite battery life

But in general I think we live in times that are just awesome in regard to camera and lens choice and functions.

I like the idea of lower ISO like 50,25,10!
ISO 10.000 without noise, I don't think that is ever going to happen, but I would maybe say to get a noise free ISO 3200, and get images at 12800 ISO with noise equivalent to 3200 now-a-days.

That might seem long ago for some, but it is not so for others. 17 years. The first car was invented just around 130 years ago, the first photograph around 200 years ago (depending on what you would call photograph). - Technology has wings these days.
Eventually somebody will come up with a new revolutionary technology and we may easily overexpose a noise-free night sky image at f22

That is true, and it will all happen with our phones too !
Technology goes to fast now a days, When I finally want to buy a product, something new comes and its even better! How do we ever decide what to get?
I don't know how it went in the 80's or 90's, but I just feel that every year Sigma, Tamron, Nikon, (probably Canon too), releases so many new things. I would like to feel that when I buy a lens, nothing new comes in the next 5 years at least....

While I totally understand, I often tell myself - every day I wait I´m gonna be without that lens/camera/accessory. And if I really need it and can make use of it, every day might be a lost opportunity to take a great picture which I otherwise can´t.
The problem is: having made my hobby to a profession I spend way too much money on things that don´t make much of a difference for clients - only for me

BTW: if you are confused by ISO and noise - take a look at this page - there you can compare the a6000 to other cameras and see what noise which camera produces at certain ISO levels. You can also drag the rectangle in the image to choose another crop.

A device to lodge under the skin that would prevent me from buying any equipment. It would zap me every time I thought about it. Then once I mastered the one lens / camera, it would send out a different signal to be removed and sent in for a firmware upgrade to the next lens I bought.

yes, Virginia, it can happen. But you must have the latest and best camera technology. I shot ISO 12,800 in a museum with a $100 camera ......... gotta love modern technology

What you show is the effects of noise reduction.

Of course you can just kill all noise if you dont care about killing all the details as well.

Thats possible since ages. And not new or impressive in any way.
