Early Fall in Massachusettes

Some early color at an un-googleable place I stumbled upon. Warren Chase Wildnerness Trails. Seriously have no idea where this place was, pulled over to get directions somewhere else, looked up and there it was.

Had winter shelters and all. And a beautifully calm lake with some great colors. Hope you like and if ya don't please let me know why not

Really nice shot, reflections in the water are great. My only complaint is when viewed full screen it comes across soft, looks almost like a painting, maybe some sharpening would rectify this.

Those dead leaves or branches are kinda distracting. It would be a cool shot if you can find an area with less distracting foreground. Beautiful place.

Thanks for the feedback. Wasn't much a fan of the foreground either but its what I had to work with without getting wet. Little chilly for that haha. As for the softness might be because I took the photo from my Facebook account and not a direct upload from my computer. Or I could use a little sharpening hah. Either way appreciate you taking the time to comment as it all helps.

Missed focus or something. It is soft.

A crop of about a fifth off the bottom would help draw and keep the eye on the colorful trees and give a panoramic perspective. Eliminating the vignette is your choice. Nice find.

Ok I appreciate all the comments and suggestions. I am fairly uneducated to the technical side of things. I realized I was not adding any sharpening. Shooting RAW and using Lightroom to now add some sharpening. While I do not believe this will make the difference with how this photo was shot, I.e missed focus, but just wondering if this makes any good difference at all ? I just seem to see a lot of noise any time I've attempted to add sharpening. Is this normal ? I'm sure I am missing something or maybe overdoing it. So figured the best way to learn is to show you my results and pick your brains.

I tend to include some of the foreground in my landscape shots. I feel that it gives a sense of the place when included but it should be minimal (as in this picture). Nice work.

Thank you glad you enjoyed it. I edited out a good portion of the distracting foreground so I'm glad it made a bit of difference.

And thank you Johhny Black for mentioning sharpening. Going back and looking again I can see there is some good difference there. Maybe not perfect but an improvement. Can't believe I've never used it. I'm a tv guy, so when I think of sharpness I think of excessive noise. Now I just have to harness it and not overdo it. Thanks again.

The second and third images you posted both looked a little blown out to me. I made a very small adjustment to the brightness and contrast of the third, but to me i think it's a lot more visually appealing. i guess it's a matter of opinion though.
