I did this event for free as I am nonwhere near being a professional.

I did not bring a flash because I scouted the room prior and didn't think it would be required.

What could i have done to improve this SOOC, outside of post. Custom chrome simulation.

Other than the WB seeming a bit on the green side; I think for the type of image it is, it's pretty darn respectable. If you got really picky, you could maybe pull the highlights on her chest & shoulders down just a tad...

Thanks John. Ok, I can tweak the WB in camera next time. I am happy to hear it is respectable. I was focused on skin tones and never considered tweaking WB . I studied and asked questions on shooting various toned skins and settled with 3 custom chrome simulations after exhaustive inquiry. WB never came up, but it fills a missing link visually and intellectually for m e. Awesome.

adjust shutter speed and observe the light on your subject

I would have raised the camera up a bit more to get it more direct on or slightly upwards pointed down to her.

that's a weird ring on her right hand.

Done properly there can be beautiful tones in dark skin, but capturing it right has always been difficult for me, because of the difference in the way skin color alters the reflected light. In addition to what has already been mentioned, I would have moved so the door wouldn't have been my background. The color of the skin, door and hair are to close. As Astro mentioned shooting down as opposed to up would have had a more slimming effect.

Thanks. I was the only place I could be. It was tight.

raise the camera up above your head ... use the flippy LCD screen.

Oops... I totally missed the "Outside of post" part of your OP... sorry! :(
Actually, that was very helpful because I couldn't pinch point what was off. I can swing the WB in camera next time. I can also tweak these in post since you showed me what you did. It was very helpful.
