Everglades Graveyard

[Viridian Dreams]

Hi! I’d love some feedback on some black and white photos I took from the southern Everglades. I’m new to photography, so I know very little. I’m still learning all the basics from camera settings to composition. I got into photography last fall as a creative outlet from my job. I have fallen in love though, and spend most of my free time exploring the back country of the Everglades looking for interesting things to shoot.

I have a Sony a6000 with the standard 16-50mm lens. I don’t own any other equipment, so I’m just trying to do the best with this while I get a better grasp on how to take quality photos.

These photos are from an area in the southern Everglades that took the brunt of the storm surge from several hurricanes the past few years and many of the trees died as a result. Now there are vast stretches filled with miles upon miles of cool dead trees. If you can stand the mosquitoes, you can find some really cool, creepy trees.

I like your point of view. Half the battle to make interesting images is finding a unique angle. I'd say you're doing well. Keep it up.

I believe your choice of exposure and contrast are excellent.

My personal bias is from ground to sky like #10.
