Does this look better? It kind of looks fake to me, but I also think that may just be because I know what it originally looked like. Thoughts?

The original. That one is my favourite out of the 3, however I'm not sure I'm liking the amount of skin smoothing, particularly down the ridge of the nose - maybe back it off a bit?

Can you post the original of #1.. in color? I would love to see that!

#2 is nice.. but no eye contact, and she looks uncomfortable.. tentative or something. Nice light!

#3 Would like much better if she was facing the camera dead on... looks awkward and posed.... a little more fill on this (that dark shadow on the right cheek / shadows under eyes) would have helped!

I would really like #6... but too much flare! lol! Great soft look for her... her expression and all. Good exposures on them, lighting needs a little work.. more fill, softer light. Looking good though....

Pretty contrasty! Is that why you decided to convert this one.. to minimize that? Sometimes better not to try to save something... Toss it and shoot over! That same smile and pose with better lighting... WOW!

oh, crap, I forgot I added the contrast after I converted it to B&W and forgot to remove that when I removed the B&W.

Of course she loved the flare on 6, ha. "the way the sun is doing that thing is so awesome!"

also, this shoot certainly showed me how hard it is to do a shoot when the person holding your softbox on an extension pole (otherwise known as a monopod) and the model have no idea what they're doing, and you have to constantly direct both of them around, you forget a lot of the "photographer" stuff you know, haha. Not blaming either of them, as I was thankful for both for helping me out, and how could you be mad at the girl in the pictures?, even if she refuses to look at the camera, haha. But I almost NEVER miss focus or exposure normally, and I did pretty badly several times without realizing it on this shoot. And of course the ones that were out of focus, she of course had the best expressions.

Sigh, such is life. This photography thing is sort of hard at times, haha. A lot of respect for the people who can direct all those assistants around effortlessly while still being able to direct an inexperienced model, and still focus on getting their own part of the play right.
