Ditch the penny, more closeups of the lizard!

1. The bottom part is OOF, for a shot like this I'd prefer the whole subject in focus.
2. I love the lizard and his/her/it's reflection. My favorite of the three
3. Again, I like the lizard more than the penny.

C&C per req:

1. Looks soft, especially on the edges to me. I think this one did just miss.

2. This would be a great shot without the dollar - a touch more DoF, especially on the lizard's nose wouldn't hurt. The lizard, especially with the reflection is excellent. As mentioned above, I would really work more with this guy, especially on this surface!

3. As per #2

Macro/close-up work can be very tricky due to the minimal DoF and difficult lighting. Often you'll find that you're much better off to shoot from slightly further back and then crop more closely in post.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

Nice shots! I especially love your crestie!

I'd disagree with tirediron a little (kinda) and say that shot 2 could have worked if the lizard had been facing the coin with his nose (ie head facing the other way). At present you've a detailed and interesting animal on one side look left out of the shot - and a coin holding up teh right side. The coin lacks interest as a subject enough to balance the interest and direction of gaze of the lizard.
Or if your shooting angle was a little more from the right so that it looks as if the lizard was staring down at the coin.

However otherwise I agree with the shot framed and lizard facing as he does the coin only distracts from the overall effect.

Thanks people, I was trying to get him to pose a few different ways but being a 3 month old crestie that I hatched and don't handle at all he wasen't staying on the surface let alone near the coin lol,

In case your wondering what the surface was, It's the back of my laptop HAHA
