I've been thinking of renting a 500MM lens for a day or two, that might be the perfect excuse to pull the trigger on it.

Make sure you get a monopod or tripod too, you probably don't want to be handholding the 500MM f/4 if you are only going to have it for a few days. I'm thinking it would take at least a few days practice time with it to handhold effectively. I believe it weighs in at 8 1/2 lbs ?
