I really like how in #2, the three branches in the back create leading lines from all four corners that frame her face so well, my eye is drawn straight to her face.


Really dig the shadow across the forehead in #4. I think it adds a sense of mystery to the shot and totally compliments the gaze and clearness of her eyes.


Love the composition in #5, how she is placed low in the corner and the use of negative space. Those types of images are great for clients, to give them variety. It invokes a sense of emptyness, and the OOF tree branches just give it that sense of chaos which is in perfect contradiction to the empty feeling the rest of the frame gives. Having her whole body in the shot wouldn't give the same feeling, as she would be smaller in the shot and her really cool squinty eyes wouldn't be as obvious.

Love the squinty eyes in the images too. They add a bit more emotion to the model's face, kind of like she is looking right at me through the lens... like looking through my soul.

I really like 3, myself. I see what people are saying about the branches - but I was too distracted by the beautiful lighting! May I ask what you did, if anything, beyond natural night? I notice the sun is behind the subject, so did you use a reflector to get more on her face?

Nope. No reflector. Just natural light and a little post
