Firewood

In regards to that thread about photographing strangers. I don't always like to be in people's faces with a camera, but I saw this one coming a little ways away. Had time to put on the 70-200 and take a few shots of this woman as she carried her firewood along a trail in the tea plantation. She didn't seem to mind and I am quite happy with the results.

Oh and the closing the one eye that's facing the sun seemed pretty common over there...

I'm not sure I entirely understand your question but to get the thin depth of field I set my aperture to f/2.8. Since I shot at 200mm (I think) and my subject was reasonably close, it will make the DoF appear thinner as well.

well, my normal reaction when closing the eye from the sun usually involves more facial muscles to use then she did. Look at her forehead, only there you can see tense muscles, but if I do the same I couldn't do it with a grimace on that whole side of the face.

But I do know one thing that would have made it better. A polarizer could have taken away the glare from the tea leaves. But that's okay, I had the time to change lenses and that was it.
