First engment shoot

I had an engagement shoot last week and I was hoping for some feedback.
There were definitely some mistakes, but keep in mind this took place in a montreal blizzard.

golly that looks cold so glad I live way south of the snow line. I really liked 486 096-copy 96-copy 480 253 208 the rest have a any old day feel to them If this was my set i would post the ones listed and ask for cc as there are a lot of photos and people here have a dislike of links as for cc I have not ever shoot in snow so I will withhold any comments for CC lovely couple

A few really NICE ones, in amongst many average ones and a couple sub-par shots as well. The weather conditions look like they were definitely very cold, and detrimental to easy shooting. The two subjects seemed to have braved the weather well though. Attractive couples tend to help.

My advice doesn't look like it would be easy in your situation, but there isn't really any variety in the photos. Everything is in the snow with their coats on. If I were having engagement photos done, I'd want to see some differing environments and clothing (especially if it is as easy as taking off a coat).

Otherwise, I totally agree w/ Derrel.

I did not make it to the indoor photos. Your flicker page suffers from an unfortunate page break that makes it look like the engagement photos stop. I think those photos are headed in the right direction, but more the more variety the better. You did a nice job of changing the shot without much movement for the subject on 249, 226, and 208.

I really liked 096 - Copy, it is dynamic (blurred snow at an angle) and shows the affection/happiness that I was really looking for in this set. IMO this one is the best and captures the whole relationship/event really well. I also liked 489 for showing them as resolute and committed for the long haul, which is another emotion that's important here I think. Others didn't do much for me.

Personally I think the conditions could have made for an extraordinary shoot. The falling snow is so beautiful and the fact that they loved each other enough to brave this shows through. However, I dont think you delivered as well as you could have. You obviously have nice gear and a decent understanding of how to use it but the framing is killing it here, not in a good way. In cold weather like this a tripod and a remote trigger are your best friend. You set up the shot and level everything off perfect with no fear of shake from the cold. Id be shivering to death. And if you had the remote trigger you could fire it off with your hands warming in your pockets.

I did like this shot a lot.

It could use just a bit of fill light to give some definition to the really dark jackets but the bokeh is very nice and good focus. Best framing of the set.
