Please C&C these photos? Here are a couple I uploaded to Facebook as a preview for my client. How do you like the processing? To get soft smooth baby skin I cloned out blemishes and splotches in LR and then duplicated the layer, added a gaussian blur in PS and history brushed over the eyes, lips, hair and anything i wanted showing detail. What do you all do for post processing babies? How do you like these shots?

Anyone?

Nr 1 looks allright, except her skin just isn't soft at all. I can see every little bump, vain etc.

Nr 2 is cropped weird with a lot of spcae to the left, the hand is out of focus and lit differently than the rest.

She is a preemie and her skin is very peely. How do you think I should edit this? This is my first newborn shoot and I know newborns skin is hard to get right. Im just looking to get that soft creamy glowing look. In number two her hand isn't out of focus, its the gaussian blur that i applied and forgot to history brush over it. Her hand isn't lit differently either, its just a different color. I actually like the space on the left, and I was thinking I should crop out the right a little bit more?

I just ran your image through a quick noise removal (Filter>Noise>Reduce Noise), and cloned out some of the skin under the arm that was peeling...or flaking. I also cloned the the image did a Highpass on it and merged it back down to get some of the detail back in. This was really quickly done, but it might give you a starting point to get your results. Hope it helps.

I like them. I also like Jubbins edit, He softened the picture without completely getting rid of all the imperfections. Personally I think its good to keep some of the imperfections of a newborn to show exactly how they were.

baby still looked a little dark/blotchy.

Is this an post crop or was the shot taken this way? I wish baby was not so vertical, if you have more wiggle room, I'd rotate a bit so she isnt so up/down in the frame.

You made the skin too bright and makes me flench a little bit when looking at the photo on the right.
